April Teammate Highlights

Firstly, we would like to take this opportunity to wish our General Manager, Alan, a Happy Birthday! Alan has been with RawMaxx for four years now and has done an incredible job in his role. As a family man with a wife and two kids, he recently welcomed a new addition to his family a month ago. Having started from the bottom up as a welder, he has seen and learned a lot about how a company is cared for, and the growth from RawMaxx inspires him to grow his own business. Happy birthday Alan, we wish you all the best!

Alan’s passion for hard work extends beyond his role at RawMaxx. In addition to his responsibilities at the company, Alan runs his own business – a woodshop that specializes in crafting high-quality carpentry pieces. RawMaxx Manufacturing Process

(Continuing last month’s article.)

Grit blasting

At RawMaxx, we take great pride in the process of building our trailers, and grit blasting, also known as sandblasting, is a crucial step in ensuring that our high standards of quality and durability are met. Grit blasting involves the use of high-pressure compressed air and abrasive materials to remove rust, grease, and other contaminants from the metal surfaces of the trailer components.

The process not only ensures a clean and smooth surface, but also provides a better adhesion surface for the paint coating to be applied, allowing us to guarantee that our products will perform better, under even the toughest conditions. Our state-of-the-art grit blasting booths are designed to accommodate trailers of all sizes, allowing us to efficiently prepare each component before they are sent off into the paint bay.

Grit Blasting

Cleaning

Cleaning is a crucial step in the trailer-building process at RawMaxx. After grit blasting, the crew works tirelessly to ensure that every inch of the trailer is clean and free of any debris, including weld splatters. They take the time to sand and smooth any areas that may have been missed by the grit blasting process to ensure that the surface is properly prepared for painting.

Additionally, they meticulously remove any grease that may have been missed, ensuring that the paint adheres properly. Finally, they ensure that all separate parts are properly suspended in the paint booth to guarantee that every inch of the trailer is painted evenly and thoroughly. This attention to detail ensures that every trailer that leaves the factory is of the highest quality and built to last.

Paint Booth

We use top-quality powder paint in the industry, for our trailer coating process. The advantages of powder coating are numerous. For one, it allows us to reach areas that might be unreachable, with traditional spray-painting methods.

Our skilled technicians use specialized equipment, to apply an even coat of electrostatic paint, with precision and care to the trailer, ensuring that every trailer leaves the factory with a flawless finish.

We offer a wide variety of colors to choose from on our products, as well as, single and two-toned trailers and a favorite, black chrome accents.

From start to finish, our commitment to using the latest technology, techniques and best materials in the industry is evident in every trailer we build.

Curing

Curing the powder-coat is a crucial step in the manufacturing process. The cured finish ensures that the trailer’s exterior is durable and long-lasting. The powder applied paint coating is cured at a temperature of 392 Fahrenheit, which allows the paint to fully bond with the metal surface and create a strong, perfect to the eye, smooth finish.

The curing process takes time, and is one of the most delicate steps, being that if the temperature inside of the curing bay is off by a few degrees, or the heat isn’t distributed properly the paint will not adhere to the metal and could easily chip and not withstand sun exposure. Our team has spent countless hours perfecting this process, striving to guarantee your product lasts for years to come.

Curing

QC paint inspection

After the paint has been cured, it’s time for the QC paint inspection. After all, it´s Quality First: Our Manufacturing Promise! At RawMaxx, we have a dedicated team of professionals, who inspect each trailer to ensure that the paint has been applied evenly and has no imperfections or defects.

The team ensures that every trailer that leaves the factory has a flawless paint job. They use a special solvent to do a rub test to make sure the paint is properly cured, and that there are no areas that have been missed. They also perform the crosshatch test, and impact test, to ensure that the paint can withstand the wear and tear of the road. These tests ensure that the paint is properly adhering to the trailer’s surface.

It is critical that each product get inspected for any inconsistencies in the paint, such as bubbling, cracking, or peeling, and makes sure that the color is consistent. Any issues are flagged and addressed before the trailer is shipped.

Overall, the paint inspection department plays a critical role in ensuring that every trailer that leaves our factory looks great and performs even better.

QC Inspection

Our commitment to quality control doesn’t end with paint inspection; every component of the trailer is inspected, to ensure that it meets our high standards of quality and durability.

Assembly

Next in the manufacturing process, assembling a RawMaxx trailer is a highly coordinated effort, with each step building on the previous one, to create a finished product that meets our high standards of quality and durability.

The first step is the installation of the suspension and axles, which are carefully aligned and secured to ensure proper performance on the road, thereafter, the jacks, which provide stability and support for the trailer when it is detached from your truck.

After the jacks comes the optional X Liner (a rubber coating that protects the paint on your trailer and can be applied over the fenders for extra protection). This feature not only looks great, but also provides an added layer of durability and resistance to wear and tear.

If the trailer requires a wood deck, it is installed at this stage, carefully measured, and cut to ensure a perfect fit.

All-weather wiring harness and lights are installed, providing reliable and long-lasting illumination for safe driving. Harnesses provide multiple benefits such as plug n’ play connections making it more efficient to install, also, should you need to replace any part of the harness due to damage or electrical issues, you can do so without cutting into the wires.

If the trailer has a hydraulic stage, this is also installed at this stage, with the lining for the electric over hydraulic brake system carefully installed to ensure smooth and reliable braking performance.

Finally, accessories such as chains, couplers, grease fittings, and decals are installed, and a final inspection is conducted to ensure that everything is in place and ready to go. From start to finish, RawMaxx’s assembly process is designed to produce trailers that are built to last and deliver superior performance for our customers.

One last QC inspection

The final stage of the manufacturing process at RawMaxx, involves yet another round of quality control, to ensure that every trailer leaving the factory, is in top-notch condition. This includes connecting the trailer to a light testing machine, that checks that all lights, brakes, and electrical systems are functioning properly.

Our technicians conduct a thorough inspection of each trailer, ensuring that everything is in order, and meets our high standards of quality and safety. This final step is critical in providing our customers with the assurance that they are getting a reliable, and safe product that will serve them well, for years to come.

Final QC Inspection

EZ Shipping

Once the final QC inspection is complete, the RawMaxx trailers are ready to be loaded and shipped to their destination.

For this final step, two crucial teams come into play. On the yard, a team of expert loading personnel carefully loads each trailer onto a transport vehicle, securing it with chains to ensure that it arrives at its destination, in the same condition it left the factory. In the office, a trained group of people gather the necessary paperwork to get the load on the road, ready for export and on its way to your construction site, or your driveway.

Our shipping team works closely with our customers, to schedule delivery times that are convenient for them, and ensure that their trailers arrive on time.
